Whoever said that you can’t be friends with your family has clearly not met the Pethawalas – a family from the city of Agra that has multiple generations staying together under one roof, with each member playing a very unique role that only he or she can! It isn’t your average larger-than-life, filmy joint family where the characters are either holier-than-thou or darker-than-evil, but real, relatable people from our everyday lives. They’re always up for a good laugh, some masti and above all, they’re there for each other through thick and thin. So endearing are the members of this family, that people often wonder if it is the bonds that they share amongst themselves that are sweeter than the Pethas they sell as a part of their family business. In a day and age where privacy and space have taken precedence over bonding and sharing with your family members, Zee TV’s next primetime fiction show Tumhi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi, which premieres on 11th May at 7 PM calls out to its viewers to pause, look at the Pethawalas and soak in the warmth of living together as one closely-knit unit.
Zee TV Business Head Pradeep Hejmadi said, “In an era of single protagonist shows where viewers are asked to follow the journey or a hero/heroine, here’s a show where the family is the hero. There was a time when living together under one roof was a way of life in India. Today, it raises questions of adjustments, space, privacy and compromise. But this needn’t be the case if one learns to look for friends within one’s family. Media and social conditioning, over the last couple of decades, have encouraged people to seek out friends who’re nothing short of family – But in the process, one has, somehow, forgotten to look for meaningful connections within your family. Just like you have one friend who can cheer you up no matter what, another that you turn to for counsel on relationship issues and yet another who offers the best career advice, Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tum Hi highlights that you can find unique equations with each member of your own family and be friends with them, if only you kept an open mind.”
Produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions, the show boasts of an ensemble cast playing various members of the joint family. Dadi played by veteran actor Madhu Malti is the eldest member and the strongest pillar of the family. The renowned Tushar Dalvi will essay the role of Mama Ji (Tarlok Chand), the man who keeps the family together with his value systems. Popular actor Aishwarya Narkar steps in as his wife Elaichi aka Maami Ji. The handsome Neil Bhatt will play their son Bhushan. Aruna Sangal will play the ever emotional Chhoti Bua while the beautiful Dimple Jhangiani has been signed on to play Avni, Mamaji’s niece who lost her mother at a young age and is now the ideal daughter of the household.
Shashi Mittal, Producer of the show says, “The Pethawala family represents an evolving pattern amongst contemporary joint families who believe they’re friends first, before family. Dost bhi hum, parivaar bhi hum. Har mausam mein saath hain hum. Technology is helping bridge the gap between generations, the parent child relationship is no longer about keeping each other at an arm’s length. Parents and children are fast learning the value of communicating with each other and understanding different viewpoints. In a world hard-pressed for time, when family becomes your best friend, you can’t wish for more!”
Starting Monday 11th May, stay tuned to Tumhi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi, every Monday to Friday at 7 PM, only on Zee TV.
